Tested: STADLER GUARD GTX

The Guard GTX from the German Stadler feels like a good compromise between a warm, dry glove for when the weather gods are less kind to you and a cool, flexible glove for when they are. Of course, in both cases it can always be better with a more extreme pair for winter or summer, but this pair from Stadler is a good intermediate glove if you do not want to purchase those specialized pairs. That koof course due to the use of Gore-Tex, which prevents moisture from outside from entering, but condensation from inside can escape.

X-Trafit Technology

Your grip is better through the use of so-called X-Trafit technology. This is because extra material has been applied between the outer layer and the Gore-Tex membrane at various pressure points, so that the different layers do not shift too much. On the fingertips and on the inside of your knuckles, for example.

The inside is lined with goatskin, which feels nice. With, in addition to a closure under the wrist, an extra reinforced strap, the closure is no problem. In terms of protection, there is also a leather thickening on the outside of your wrist and 'heavy duty' plastic from SuperFabric has been used on the knuckles, ring finger and little finger, recognizable by the stud profile. The stuff feels as hard as granite and therefore gives confidence.

A nice detail is that when you are in a rain shower and you do not have handguards on your handlebars, the drops on your knuckles dance around in the turbulence, because they do not get a grip on the material.

Conclusion

I tested the Guard GTX gloves for a year in both -4 and +45 degrees Celsius. In the first case, heated handles are very pleasant, because the inside of the fingers is still slightly perforated. In the latter case, it is quite cozy due to the goatskin and the various layers of protection. They are just right in between. A high quality glove for the real mileage eater.
