The Gore-Tex waterproof membrane consists of microscopic pores, which are many times smaller than a raindrop, so rain cannot pass through the membrane. Perspiration droplets, however, are much smaller and can easily pass through the membrane. The result is waterproof motorcycle clothing with good breathability. So you will be less likely to suffer from a damp coat. The disadvantage is that the motorcycle jacket or pants become a bit stiffer due to the laminate.

With a laminated product, the membrane is ''stuck'' to the outer layer of the jacket. As a result, the product will not absorb water. A distinction is made between 2-layer and 3-layer laminate. With 2-layer laminate, only the materials GTX and Cordura are used. With 3-layer laminate there is an extra layer on the inside. This makes the motorcycle clothing a lot more durable and comfortable. The 3-layer system is the only Gore-Tex type of laminate that STADLER offers. Simply because it is the best. 3-layer laminate (3L for short) is also called Gore-Tex Pro. With Gore-Tex 3L motorcycle clothing, the outer layer is made of Cordura 500. This is a very durable fabric that is characterized as a very durable fabric.
In this variant, the waterproof membrane is between the outer layer and the lining of the jacket. This is partly stitched and therefore cannot be removed from the jacket. Because this is not glued down, the product is more flexible and lighter than, for example, a laminated motorcycle jacket or motorcycle pants. It is also a less complex manufacturing process, which means that this type of membrane is often more favorably priced. However, the ventilation options are limited and the outer layer of the jacket will absorb water when it rains, which will result in a heavier jacket.
With the Gore-Tex modular membrane, both the inner lining and the waterproof membrane can be removed. Because the Gore-Tex waterproof jacket can be zipped out, you can create a summer and winter jacket. When the waterproof layer is removed, the jacket will allow more air to pass through, increasing the ventilation options. However, the jacket will also let rain through during an occasional shower. At STADLER there is always a storage compartment for this waterproof inner jacket at the back.
